The History of Montblanc Heritage Spirit Date Automatic Watches
Literally, Montblanc International has been a provider of luxury jewelry and writing instruments since 1906. In the 1990s, the German Company felt the need of adding a distinctive elegance on its wrist-worn jewels and created Montblanc Montre S.A. in 1997. While the main company focuses on the pens and other luxury goods, the sub-branch was to focus on wristwatches exclusively.
As soon the first Montblanc watch was introduced, the Le Locle-based watchmaker won the hearts of many enthusiasts. After introducing its handcrafted Meisterstück watch at SIHH show, the brand even won recognition among top international jewelers who then furthered its recognition worldwide.
Living at the heart of Swiss watchmaking, Montblanc expanded its craftsmanship in watchmaking and at SIHH 2008 unveiled its first in-house caliber MB R100. Functional by manual winding, the 33-jewel caliber drove Montblanc Nicolas Rieussec Chronograph watch which honors the French watchmaker Nicolas Mathieu Rieussec who invented chronograph technology.
Technically, caliber MB R100 revolutionized Montblanc’s watchmaking as in 2010, the brand introduced the Montblanc Metamorphosis watch at SIHH flair. Classical and ultra-elegant, the complex watch was a dedication for being able to preserve traditional Swiss watchmaking. Recently during SIHH 2019, Montblanc presented a new Metamorphosis Concept with several watch complications that are novel and created in-house. Similar to the previous Metamorphosis watches, the new timepiece is two-faced too but with a combination of the patented Exo Tourbillon and three-dimensional realistic moon. Although the accomplishment was tremendous, its magnitude was surpassed by that of 2015 when SIHH gleamed with 5 different classy lineups of Montblanc men watches.
