History of Montblanc Watches

Who hasn't heard the name Montblanc? Of course, we all have, it is popular amongst the aficionados for its luxury pens. But is that all? No, it is not only known for its writing instruments but is also famous when it comes to leather goods, eyewear, jewelry, perfumes and obviously watches.

The brand Montblanc started its company in the year 1906 and was founded by Alfred Nehemias, who was a Hamburg merchant and August Eberstein who was a Berlin engineer by profession. These two creative people teamed up together with Claus Voss who was a stationary trader, hence began their memorable journey.

With a motto of creating "a tool that would revolutionize the art of handwriting", these two young men started their voyage. In 1906 itself, they worked hard together and came up with a non-leaking device which was equipped with a piston converter and this in future defined the modern fountain pen.

In the 80s, Dunhill Holding Company bought a major stake of Montblanc which in the later year was captured by the Vendôme Luxury Group S.A who further combined all luxury good companies.

In the year 1966, Montblanc made its entry in the field of men's jewelry by releasing its "Meisterstuck Jewellery Collection". And now its watches – it began soon after it launched its jewelry collection. In 1997, Montblanc Montre S.A was located right at the heart of the Swiss watch industry in Le Locle. This is where it grabbed a lot of attention and was recognized as one of the top international jewelers when it took part in Salon International de Haute Horlogerie (SIHH) which was held in Geneva. It was here that it presented its very first watch, Meisterstuck, for the very first time.

Montblanc has become a prestigious brand that is also part of the Richemont luxury group. This luxury group consists of a number of renowned companies including the Cartier, Vacheron Constantin, IWC, Van Cleef and Arpels and Jaeger LeCoultre. Montblanc has acquired its name from the highest peak that is located in Europe, and this name has been bought alive in its brand logo as well. The white star that is presented on a black background which further brings out the reflection of the snow-covered peak of Montblanc – has now become a prominent symbol that is offered to the world of luxury branding.

Initiating its journey with Meisterstuck, which was the brand’s iconic instrument, now it has created a diverse and exciting range of watches that are perfect to enchant all the watch lovers. Its collection consists of everything from the classic dress watches, for instance, the Star Classique range to more of a contemporary TimeWalker watch that is equipped with automatic movements.

All the Montblanc watches are manufactured using the same precision and care that is used in their writing instruments. One of their popular women's collection is presented under the name Bohème, which is the perfectly beautified mother of pearl dials and diamond embellishments.

Producing their first watch in 1997, by 2006 Montblanc had already become a fully-fledged watchmaker. It did not take the brand too long to establish its reputation in the luxury timepiece game.

It is not just a watchmaker, but it has also developed its own in-house movement. This was first featured in its Nicholas Rieussec Chronograph. Named after the renowned watchmaker, Nicholas Rieussec, this watch collection was released in 2008. The watch was powered by the MBR200 movement and highlighted twin barrels which enabled it to have a power reserve of 72-hours.

One of its popular releases is its Montblanc Timewalker. It comes under its sporty collection that has taken its inspiration from the spirit of racing. It has been influenced by its links that it formed during the golden age of speed. It is amongst the best selling family of watches for Montblanc.

The new releases are being inspired by the vintage auto racing and are armed with design codes, color schemes and complications that suits well with the theme. The TimeWalker Chronograph is one of the important releases of 2017. This Montblanc Chronograph can be counted amongst the perfect leather strap watches that are exclusively for men. Its case is made up of stainless steel case and measures 43mm across and 15.2mm thick. With two color options - sunburst black and sunburst silver, this is a head-turner watch. Additionally, it is blended with the bright red chronograph seconds hand that makes the reading of its secondary dials much easier. Equipped with caliber MB 25.07, it provides a power reserve of 46 hours and has a frequency of 28,800 mph.

So if you are looking for some mens leather watches that is combined with a sportier look, then this is an ideal choice to enhance your mens watch collection.
