25 Best Big Watches to Suit Your Big Personality

Bigger is better… well, not all the time. But sometimes, it is. And in the world of fashion, big has become trendy again. We’ve gone from skinny jeans to oversized sweatshirts and we’re definitely here for it. If you’re looking for some big and bold accessories to complete your outfit, we’ve got you covered! From Casio to Panerai, take a look at these big watches and find the one that best fits you and your big personality.

Watch Size Guide

Before we take a look at the best big watches available for you, let’s talk about watch sizes. Now, we know that when people are searching for a watch, they mostly look at the design or the quality of the build. And those are all good things to consider when purchasing a timepiece. But what a lot of people don’t really look at — especially when purchasing online — is the dimension of the watch.

A lot of people have found themselves searching the Internet for a good watch, falling in love with a particular design, and ordering it only to be faced with utter disappointment when it turns out to be too large or small for them. It sucks. But it can be avoided. We’ll briefly go through some tips to help you know what your size is and which watches are best suited for that size.

Measure Your Wrist

The first thing you need to do is to take out that tape measure. You can’t go around buying an item of clothing (yes, a watch counts) without knowing your size. So, go ahead and measure your wrist according to the fit you most prefer for your watches. Make sure to use inches since that is the unit of measurement we’ll be using for this guide. This will be your basis from here on out.

Watch Case Sizes

One of the best ways to determine the fit of the watch is through its case. Now, you might think it’s the strap, but here’s the thing. You could find that the strap technically fits your wrist but then the proportions are all wrong because the watch case could be either too big or too small on your wrist. To avoid this, we’ll look at the case diameters first.

For men’s watches, the typical range is from 38mm to 46mm. Those below 38mm are for thinner wrists and lean towards women’s sizes. And those above 46mm are, well, the really big watches. For our list, this is the range we’ll be looking at. The watches listed below start from around 47-48mm and go as high as 57mm. So, to find out whether these watches would even fit you, continue reading.

Let’s break it down further, but now, we’ll consider the wrist circumference. If you measured around 6 inches, go for a 38mm watch. For 6.5 inches, that would mean a 40mm watch suits you. If your wrist is around 7 inches in circumference, 4mm is the best fit for you. For 7.5 inches, choose watches that are 44mm in size. And for wrists 8 inches in size, your best bet is a 46mm watch. If your wrists measure above 8 inches, then this list is exactly for you. But what about the specific sizes? Well, you’ve probably noticed a pattern as we listed down the sizes. Go by this rule: for every half-inch increment, add 2mm to the watch size. For example, we stopped at 8 inches and 46mm. So, 8.5 inches would mean 48mm, 9 inches is 50mm, and so on. That’s pretty much it.

What Else to Take Note Of

Now, there are other factors to consider, but we’ll just run through these quickly. The reason we won’t go deeper into these is that these factors usually also depend on the case size. For example, the thickness of the case would often affect the fit of the watch. However, watches are produced with certain proportions in mind. Basically, if the diameter increases, the thickness will as well. It is important to note, though, this won’t always be the case as some watch designers might want to create a large dial that is also thin. So, it’s best to double-check the thickness even if you’ve got the right case size.

Another factor is the strap. Now, we’re talking about the width of the strap and not the length. Straps are typically adjustable so length doesn’t really matter. For leather straps, you just choose which hole to insert the pin through. And for metal straps, you can typically add or remove links to adjust the size. So, when we say the straps may factor in, we mean the proportions. Some straps may be too thin for your wrists, while others may be too thick that they dig into your skin. Now, again, there is typically a ratio between the case and strap that manufacturers follow. However, some may veer away from that for design purposes, so keep that in mind.
