New Alpina Startimer Watches

History of Alpina Startimer Watches

We can actually trace back to nearly 140 years ago, in 1883, for the origin of the Alpina brand.

Founded by Gottlieb Hauser, Alpina had already started to develop their own watch components and calibers under the Swiss Watches Corporation. As a Swiss and German brand, they manufactured watch calibers and chronometers in both Switzerland and Germany Glashütte, and provided them to both the military units and the civilian market. Over the years, Alpina had grown into a sizable brand that garnered massive popularity.

In 1938, Alpina released a new series of watches with its emphasized “Alpina 4” standards and set a benchmark for other luxury sports watches. The “Alpina 4” concepts are still being used in today’s standard, including a stainless steel build, water-resistant, anti-shock and anti-magnetic protection.

For over 50 years, Alpina has become a trusted official manufacturer and supplier of tool watches for military use to continental air force units. To cater the needs of the crew under the military condition constraints, its aviation watches are all well crafted with the best watchmaking advancements. They are robust, shocks and water resistant, anti-magnetic and easy to read. Such a deep relationship with the military and the legendary aviation heritage, are a solid proof of the Alpina watch’s reliability and precision.

The brand continued to stay strong in the watch market with various lines of highly desired watches, up to the 1970s. Just like many other great mechanical watch brands, Alpina had also struggled hard to survive from the “quartz crisis”. Although the brand had retained a sales office in Germany, its business and production ceased until its name was acquired in 2002.

In 2002, the founders of Frederique Constant, bought the Alpina name and decided to revitalize this once successful brand. With the support of Frederique Constant’s facilities and in-house calibers, Alpina watches were able to stand apart from other competitors, in terms of both quality and price. And the brand started to develop a wide variety of timepieces including worldtimers, regulators, and even tourbillons.

As of today, Alpina is offering a versatile collection of exquisite pilot watches that have received overwhelming responses in the global market. They are available in a wide array of models ranging from classic automatic version, quartz chronographs to 50mm hand-wound versions, and re-edited versions of vintage models from 1926, etc. Every essence a watch lover would desire, they have got you covered.

Amongst its exceptional aviation watches, the Alpina Startimer watch is their flagship collection. Ever since its launch in 2011, the Alpina Startimer collection has gained enormous successes for the brand. The brand has dedicated itself to strive for the best quality on its watches. As a tribute to its rich aviation history and legacy, every Startimer Pilot watch is equipped with the most advanced watchmaking technologies for travelers and adventurers.
